Every program is a living act of cultural preservation — and a step toward Casa de Arte.

Raíces brings flamenco and Hispanic cultural arts directly into Vacaville’s public schools through immersive residency programs. Students learn flamenco fundamentals, rumba choreography, and Sevillanas — culminating in a school performance that brings families together around their shared cultural heritage.
For many students, Raíces is the first time they have experienced their cultural heritage through movement, rhythm, and music in a school setting. For others, it is a moment of recognition — something they always carried, finally given space. The program launched at Markham Elementary in 2025, serving over 120 students and families, and expands to additional schools in 2026.

Carmen is an original flamenco ballet adaptation of Bizet’s opera, created and performed by Angela Arteritano and the Arteritano Flamenco Company. Presented annually during Hispanic Heritage Month at the Vacaville Performing Arts Theatre, it has become Vacaville’s signature cultural celebration — an evening of world-class artistry and community belonging.
The production features an intergenerational cast of students and seasoned performers, costumes custom-made in Seville, Spain, and the full emotional breadth of the flamenco tradition. Now in its third year, Carmen continues to grow — and in 2026 introduces a new VIP experience with food and wine pairings, an intimate meet the artists reception, and exclusive surprises.

A tertulia is more than a gathering — it is a tradition. Monthly and rotating through student homes, community spaces, and local businesses, each Tertulia brings the Arteritano community together around food, conversation, music, and a shared cultural theme.
Tertulias grew organically from the student community before they were ever a formal program. They are the foundation at its most alive — low-barrier, warm, and genuinely welcoming to anyone curious about Hispanic arts and culture. Each gathering centers on a cultural theme, a shared traditional meal, and a space where belonging is the point.

Entretejidas — meaning “interwoven” — is the Arteritano Foundation’s cultural preservation and exchange program, connecting Vacaville with living artisan traditions from Latin America and Spain. Beginning with indigenous textile practices and expanding to any traditional artisan form, the program engages master artisans as lead collaborators and compensates them through honoraria and stipends.
The program begins with a Peru connection anchored through Rotary International — building bridges between Vacaville and artisan communities whose knowledge and cultural practices deserve preservation and wider recognition. Entretejidas is the foundation’s bridge between the local and the global, the present and the ancestral.
